Buying on DLsite from outside Japan

First check the work you want to buy. Then choose a payment method. A successful payment does not tell you whether the work supports your language, device or region.

Sources reviewed 2026-09-28. Edited 2026-09-29 to clarify the order of checks and payment limits; this was not a new payment-policy check. The conditions DLsite and your payment provider show now take precedence.

Before you pay

  1. Check the edition. Look for “Supported languages” and the RJ number. A separate English edition can require a separate purchase. How to read language labels.
  2. Check your device. Read the system requirements and try the free trial when one is available. A PC game is not automatically a phone game. Downloads and device compatibility.
  3. Check availability and purchase conditions. Follow any country or region restriction shown by DLsite. Points do not remove it. Read the refund conditions before buying.

Still deciding? Your saved list keeps choices in this browser, not in your DLsite account. You can return without adding funds now.

Payment methods in our source review

MethodCheckout listingWhat to check
JCB credit cardListedDLsite lists JCB at checkout, but no other card brands. It warns that cards issued outside Japan may fail.
DLsite pointsListedOne point is worth 1 yen. Check the work and the point seller’s conditions before adding funds.
BitCash / PayPayListedDLsite lists these e-money options. Check whether you can use the service where you live.
Visa / Mastercard / Amex / UnionPayNot listedSome sellers linked from Purchase Points list these cards for point purchases. That is a separate payment, not direct checkout on DLsite.
PayPal / Alipay / WeChat PayNot listedWe did not find these on the DLsite payment pages we reviewed. This is not a promise about every seller or future availability.
Debit / prepaid cardsLimited supportDLsite does not guarantee support. Ask your issuer about any authorization hold or failed payment.

Buying points is a separate purchase

Start from Purchase Points in your DLsite account (PR). DLsite’s help names authorized sellers and warns that using codes from other sources can lead to account suspension. We cannot promise that the same sellers appear for every country.

Before paying a seller, check its currency, fees, delivery method, code deadline and cancellation terms. The code’s expiry and the expiry of points already in your account are different.

  • DPay: our 2026-09-28 review found charges in Taiwan dollars and points credited to the linked DLsite account, rather than a code to enter.
  • For Books: the seller’s page gave its gift codes a six-month deadline.
  • WaffoPlay: the seller’s page gave codes a 180-day deadline.

Use the instructions for the seller you choose; do not assume every seller delivers points in the same way. Check the current terms before you pay.

Currency, expiry and your statement

DLsite bills work purchases in Japanese yen. Prices in other currencies are estimates. A point seller can charge in a different currency; your issuer or payment provider may add fees. Check the final total for the transaction you are making.

DLsite’s help says points expire one year after you last earn or use them. Check the expiry in your account instead of treating a balance as money that will remain available indefinitely.

For the name on your statement, check with whoever takes the payment. We have not verified one description that covers both direct DLsite purchases and all point sellers.

Common questions

My card works elsewhere. Why did DLsite decline it?

DLsite warns that cards issued outside Japan, debit cards and prepaid cards may fail. Check the payment methods shown for your order and follow its card-error help. A point purchase is a separate transaction; it does not guarantee that you can buy or use a particular work.

Does a successful payment mean the work is available in my country?

No. Payment, regional availability and device compatibility are separate checks. If DLsite says a work is unavailable in your region, do not buy points on the assumption that they remove that restriction.

Do points expire?

DLsite’s point-expiry help says the balance expires one year after you last earn or spend points. Check the expiry shown in your account. An unused code from a point seller has its own deadline, which can be shorter.

What will appear on my card statement?

Check with the service taking your payment. Paying DLsite directly and buying points from another seller are different transactions. We have not verified a statement description that applies to every seller or payment method.

Can I make an account from outside Japan?

DLsite provides an English registration guide. An account does not guarantee that every work or payment method is available where you live. Check the conditions shown for your order.
